EMMERDALE fans were up in arms tonight as Rebecca White hinted Robert Sugden WASN'T the father of her child before banning him from seeing little Seb
The new mum took drastic action after discovering the hunk's plot to fleece her family - and viewers urged the farmer's son to get a DNA test as she told him to "say goodbye" to his hopes of fatherhood.
An explosive episode saw Rebecca finally realise her ex boyfriend's scheming plot - and give him a stinging slap in the process.
She came to her conclusion after watching her ex's former business partner sell fitness equipment on a TV shopping channel, nonetheless.
And after putting two and two together the parent deduced the father of her child's scheming was in fact her former lover and dad to their son.
Viewers are all too aware how Robert drummed up his scheme, Rug Tree Bonds, in order to siphon money from Rebecca's wealthy relatives and their family business.
Yet after the truth came out she told him his actions meant he would never see newborn Seb again.
Holding the tot close to her body she raged he was not a dad- yet viewers saw the irony and in fact saw her words as a veiled hint from soap producers that another Dales resident was the dad.
Irate Rebecca told her ex: "Say goodbye.
"As far as I am concerned, you are not this child's father - you never will be."
Fans quickly took to Twitter believing they had unearthed a major new plot as one wrote: "Never was the father to begin with but K..."
Another urged: "Robert, just get a dna test done.At least Bex finally admitted Rob wasn't the father," as a third mused: "I’m guessing Ross Barton might be the father of Rebecca’s baby ??"
A fourth then commented: "Honestly if that last line wasn’t foreshadowing then why phrase it like that," as one wrote: "Come on #emmerdale," as one put: "Twice she called Seb 'my son'...not 'our son'...is it just me that finds that interesting? ? #emmerdale."
A telly fan then surmised: "I find it really gross that she's using her own child to punish him."
Robert's protestations didn't seem to matter one jot.
Falling on deaf ears he tried to justify the scam and wailed: "That was then - I've changed.
"I don't want to be that person any more."
Yet today we reported how Robert's plan will be further scuppered by Rebecca's nephew Lachlan, who has gone missing.
- Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7pm
