LOOSE Women will be cancelled today as show broadcaster ITV clears its schedule for the Budget.
The switch means hosts Andrea McLean and regular panellists including Coleen Nolan and Janet Street-Porter, who today dressed as a judge, will enjoy a well-needed day off from their hour-long 12.30pm slot.
Yesterday, viewers were left glued to their screens as One An Only singer Chesney Hawkes visited for a chat.
He told the former Nolans singer how he was heckled by his four-year-old daughter on his panto debut.
The singer explained: "The first panto I ever did was with Darren Day and John Bishop.
"I was Dick Whittington. I was doing this love scene with my leading lady, right at the front of the stage. "It was a very quiet moment.
"My whole gang - they were little then - were in the fourth row. My daughter was probably four. I heard this, “Daddy?”'
"I turned around and said, 'Yes, darling' and she said: 'I’ve got an ice cream'.
"Needless to say it got the biggest applause of the night."
Yet fans may well tune in for a 60-minute dose of politics instead.
Meanwhile, it is the first time in more than 20 years the budget will be presented in the autumn.
The change means that tax changes are revealed well in advance of the new tax year in April.
The autumn statement was scrapped by Philip Hammond in 2016.
At the recommendation of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), there is now a Spring Statement instead, with the Budget presented later in the year.
Instead of four gossiping celebrities and a host of showbiz guests, ITV viewers can expect to see Philip Hammond using the red budget suitcase.
The box is often held up outside 11 Downing Street and used to carry the speech to the House of Commons.
According to HM Treasury: "Ministers are permitted to use ordinary lockable briefcases to transport information which has been classified ‘Confidential’ or below.
"For information with a higher security level (such as ‘Secret’) they are required to use dispatch boxes, which offer a higher level of security, and which are usually red. "
