Mullins already has five Royal Ascot victories to his name including three wins in the Ascot Stakes

MELBOURNE Cup third Max Dynamite is set to head a strong raid for Willie Mullins at Royal Ascot later this month.

The 12-times champion trainer is readying his team as he looks to bag a sixth winner at the meeting.

The Closutton maestro has won the Ascot Stakes three times before and the Queen Alexandra Stakes twice and is set to be well represented in the races yet again this year as well as the Ascot Gold Cup.

12 months ago, Thomas Hobson won the Ascot Stakes on the Tuesday before finishing second in the Queen Alexandra four days later.

Mullins said:  "Hopefully we will have somewhere between three and six runners at Ascot.

"Max Dynamite and Thomas Hobson will probably go for the Ascot Gold Cup and if they ran into a place that would be terrific.

"The Ascot Stakes and Queen Alexandra have been lucky for us and we will have entries in those races, but we have not decided which will run in them yet."

Max Dynamite was last seen finishing fourth in the Yorkshire Cup behind Stradivarius.

Thomas Hobson meanwhile has not been in action since his sixth place in the Melbourne Cup.

Mullins has had tremendous success with his stayers including Simenon who went one better than Thomas Hobson when doubling up at Ascot in 2012.

Mullins' other two winners at the meeting are Clondaw Warrior (2015 Ascot Stakes) and Pique Sous (2014 Queen Alexandra).
