BBC bosses have already forked out £153,000 on outside lawyers to defend their court case against Sir Cliff Richard.
He is suing for over £600,000 after a police raid linked to a sex assault claim was filmed at his home in Sunningdale, Berks, in 2014.
A High Court judge is considering his decision.
The BBC revealed it spent £153,025 on “external legal fees” by the end of May after a Freedom of Information request.
The singer denied the historic allegation and was never arrested or charged. It was later announced he would face no action.
