Their injuries were not thought to be “life-threatening”.

One witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed the group had been drinking after attending a funeral nearby.

She told The Sun Online: “There was a lot of people outside the pub and they were jumping about with their tops off, chanting and going crazy.

“Apparently there had been a funeral and the lads outside had been to the wake.

“They were just being idiots really, it looked like they had enjoyed a drink.

“I took out my phone to film them mucking around as I walked towards the pub and then this van just sped towards them.

“It was really chaotic. But it was all over in a matter of seconds and the van just sped off.”

She added: “It was quite shocking. I didn’t look for long because I got a bit scared and just turned around.

“The police were there in no time, there was an air ambulance and helicopters over the scene.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said one man had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and another on suspicion of assault. Inquiries are on going.
