TV widower Simon Thomas has received a heartbreaking Valentine's Day card from his son — which reads: "Love you lots".
The Sky Sports presenter, who lost wife Gemma to cancer in November, shared a photo of the touching card in Instagram today.
Son Ethan, eight, wrote: "Happy Valentine's Day" on the front with a drawing of Simon, 45, surrounded by hearts.
Inside, it read: "Dear Daddy, happy valentines day, love you lots, lots of kisses, love Ethan" followed by two lines of x's.
Simon's wife Gemma, 40, tragically died from leukaemia just days after being diagnosed.
He has spent weeks processing the grief of her loss — keeping his supportive fans updated with heartbreaking blog posts and videos.
In recent footage posted online, Simon told how a "really unpleasant" episode had left him in "a dark place".
He said: "There’s a situation with a person that’s became really, really unpleasant and they’ve somehow tried to equate their grief with mine.
"Over the last two weeks it’s been brewing and it reached its breaking point yesterday and pushed me to a really dark place."
The dad-of-one spoke at 4:40am to reveal that he had been suffering from sleep deprivation sparked by his grief.
Simon said: "I’m up at this time again. I had a good night sleep the night before. My doctor put me on some new sleeping pills and the first night I got six hours sleep.
"But I woke up feeling like I had a hangover without being sick. It put me off so I didn’t have them last night and you can’t take them every night."
It came just days after Simon penned an emotional blog post in which he said he was "really struggling" and "merely surviving".
The former Blue Peter host said: "One day I will rise again from the ashes of these painful past few weeks, but for now this is me.
"Broken, fearful, weak, vulnerable and tear filled and if by admitting this it helps one person, then it’s worth it."
It came just a week after Simon marked his 45th birthday with a touching note to son Ethan.
He wrote: “Today is going to be the unhappiest of birthdays for Daddy with Mummy no longer here.
“But, know this my dear boy. You make me so happy and I love you more than all the Lego in the world.”
It followed a similarly tender note where he reminded his son “we’re in this together”.
He revealed that Ethan was “missing mummy”, with the pair still struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of Gemma to cancer last year.
Simon wrote: "I know last night you said you're missing mummy so much - so is Daddy.
"But remember we're in this together and #TeamThomas never gives up! Daddy xx."
Simon announced Gemma's tragic death aged 40 on November 25.
He tweeted: "Today I am crushed with indescribable pain.
"Just three days after falling ill with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, my dear wife Gemma passed away yesterday evening surrounded by her family and friends."
He added: "If you are a prayer - pray for my boy Ethan. 8yrs, precious and in bits. Thank you."
